Suspect Shot After Allegedly Hitting Deputy With Car In Auburn

AUBURN (CBS13) - A Placer County sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital Sunday night after being hit by a suspect driving a stolen vehicle, according to authorities.

At around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies spotted a stolen car parked at AM/PM on Lincoln Way in Auburn. When the suspect, Ryan Presson, 25, of Colfax, walked out and got into the car, two deputies positioned their vehicles next to Presson's, boxing him in, according to a statement from Placer County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Dena Erwin.

Presson allegedly hit a deputy's vehicle, moving it several feet and knocking a deputy down who was standing near a vehicle.

The deputies fired at Presson, hitting in the arm and grazing his head. He still managed to drive the vehicle onto Lincoln Way, before crashing into a curb on Ferguson road.

Presson reportedly got out of the vehicle and hid in some nearby bushes. A CHP helicopter spotted him and CHP officers held him at gunpoint until deputies took him into custody.

The deputy suffered only minor injuries.
