Rio Linda Carjacking Suspect Found Dead In Natomas Home After Long Standoff
RIO LINDA (CBS13) — A suspect who was sought in a Rio Linda carjacking, who allegedly shot at a California Highway Patrol officer has been found dead inside a Natomas house.
The officer-involved shooting happened in the area of Dry Creek and Elk Horn boulevards on Tuesday afternoon. The suspect allegedly opened fire on a CHP officer, but did not connect with any bullets.
The suspect then fled in a blue and white 1989 Ford Bronco that was carjacked. Just past 5 p.m., the Bronco was found and the suspect was tracked down to a Natomas home. Three hours into the standoff, officers sent a robot into the home, finding the suspect unresponsive inside.

Twin Rivers School District officials say Rio Linda High, Rio Linda Prep and Dry Creek Elementary were placed on lockdown, though the incident happened after students most students were gone for the day.
Wednesday morning, authorities identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jose Roberto Leon.
