Deputies: Man, 58, Killed By Reckless Driver In North Highlands

NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) - A man was killed after his car was hit by another car that was being chased by a deputy late Sunday night.

The incident started on Watt Avenue near Don Julio Drive. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, a deputy out on patrol spotted a car speeding past on the sidewalk.

The deputy managed to catch up, but the suspect wouldn't yield.

Deputies say the suspect ran through a stop light at the intersection of Elkhorn Boulevard and Larchmont Drive, hitting another car. The 19-year-old suspect driver was then taken into custody.

Two people were in the other car hit by the suspect. A 58-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman who was also in the other car was taken to the hospital.

California Highway Patrol is helping with the collision investigation.
