Passenger killed, driver hospitalized in fiery Yuba City crash

Woman killed, man injured in fiery crash in Yuba City

YUBA CITY - A woman was killed and a driver was taken to the hospital in a fiery crash in Yuba City Wednesday morning, the police department said. 

The Yuba City Police Department said the crash happened at the intersection of Colusa Highway and Rocca Way at about 8 a.m. The crash caused delays on eastbound Colusa Highway and northbound Rocca Way. 

Police said they found a Toyota RAV4 on fire at the southeast side of the intersection.

The driver was extricated and taken to the hospital with significant injuries, police said, and a female passenger died at the scene. 

Police said evidence gathered at the scene indicated the driver was speeding eastbound on Highway 20 before colliding with a light pole.

No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the crash. 

The identification of the female killed has not been released. 

According to Caltrans, Colusa Highway was closed from Highway 99 to Rocca Way.
