Davis Teacher Facing Sexual Battery Charges Arrested In Concord

DAVIS (CBS13) – Davis Police say that a popular middle school teacher was arrested in Concord late Friday night.

John O'Brien, a teacher at Harper Junior, is facing charges of sexual battery. The Davis Joint Unified School District released a statement to parents Friday afternoon, warning parents of the charges the teacher is facing.

Police say that O'Brien was cited and released in Concord on the misdemeanor warrant.

Superintendent Winfred Roberson spoke to CBS13 Friday, saying that the school's investigation into O'Brien has been underway since September when Davis Police first notified the school.

"We've initiated proceedings for dismissal," Roberson said.

O'Brien has been on unpaid administrative leave since September when Davis Police first notified the school.
