Davis Police Release Calm 911 Call By Murder-Suicide Suspect

DAVIS (CBS13) — Davis Police have released the 911 call that preceded a murder-suicide in Davis.

Joseph Hein and his roommate Whitney Engler were found dead in a Glacier Drive home in March.

Investigators say Hein shot Engler, then calmly called 911 before taking his own life. They do not have a motive behind the shooting.

911 OPERATOR: Davis Emergency?

CALLER: Hi there. I need an ambulance and a squad car at 2210 Glacier Drive, Davis California.

911 OPERATOR: And what's going on?

CALLER: There's two gunshot victims; A 27-year-old female and a 23-year-old male.

911 OPERATOR: Who had the gun?

CALLER: The 23-year-old male

911 OPERATOR: And do you know who they are?

CALLER: Yep, they live there.

911 OPERATOR: And are they alive?

CALLER: Nope, I don't believe so.

911 OPERATOR: OK who are you?

CALLER: My name is Joseph.

911 OPERATOR: And how did you find out about this, Joseph?

CALLER: I just walked in on it. But that's all I can say now. But send that ASAP. We're less than a mile away from Sutter Davis [Hospital].

911 OPERATOR: OK can you stay on scene Joseph until I get officers and an ambulance out there

CALLER: I will be on scene.

911 OPERATOR: And how did you get the information that they were there again?

CALLER: I have to go now, sorry, goodbye.

911 OPERATOR: Can I get your callback number?
