Girl Claims She Was Victim Of Kidnapping Attempt In Davis

DAVIS (CBS13) - Davis police are investigating a report of an attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon in the area of Arena Drive and Oceano Way, near Frances Harper Junior High School, according to a statement from police.

The victim told police she was walking home from school around 4 p.m. when a man wearing a black mask and black gloves jumped out from behind a fence and grabbed her by the wrist.  She was able to break free and hide in nearby bushes where she called her father on the phone.

Her father then contacted police.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, approximately 25 years old, between 6 feet and 6 feet 4 inches tall with an average build; short black hair; and brown or hazel eyes.

The victim says she last saw the man running south on Oceano Way. He was wearing a black mask covering his mouth and nose, black gloves, and a black jacket.
