Darth Vader Looms Over New Rogue One Star Wars Trailer

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Somewhere, buried in the sea of Olympics commercials was the path to A New Hope.

The second trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story made its debut on Thursday. The movie takes place just before "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope," or "The Original Star Wars" as most people would remember.

The trailer continues to set the scene of a galaxy where the Empire's control spreads under the hand of Emperor Palpatine and his apprentice, Darth Vader. The seeds of a rebellion are teased throughout as someone needs to help stop a new superweapon developed by the Empire—one that (spoilers) will devastate Alderaan in the next movie.

The movie is slated for a December release. It's the first of a series of planned one-off movies in between major Star Wars releases.
