Crews Battle Large Warehouse Fire In Upper Land Park

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Crews battled a large fire at a shellfish warehouse in the Upper Land Park area Friday night.

The scene was at an old California Shellfish Co. warehouse along the 500 block of 1st Avenue, the Sacramento Fire Department said.

Just after 9 p.m., the fire department said additional units were called to the scene.

The fire appeared to be human-caused. The warehouse, which has long been non-operational has been the scene of multiple fires in the past.

"The problem is, we know these are human-caused fires and someone or multiple people are choosing to make their way into these vacant buildings [and] doing activities that are causing fires," said Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson Keith Wade. "Whether they're intentional or accidental, they're a problem for the fire department and for the surrounding community. I'm sure the people that live in this area are sick of seeing our response out to this area. This is the fourth time I could think of [us] coming out here in a year and a half."

No injuries were reported.
