Driver Killed In Crash On I-5 Off-Ramp At Del Paso Road

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A woman is dead after crashing her car into a tree near a Natomas freeway off-ramp.

Just after 2:30 a.m., a 2010 Lexus sedan was driving on northbound Interstate 5 at Del Paso Road when the driver reportedly took the off-ramp too fast, left the roadway, skidded sideways and hit a tree. The force of the crash killed the driver and nearly split the car in two.

"It does appear that speed is going to be a factor based on the vehicle damage and the tire friction (skid marks)," said CHP Sgt. Aaron Rohner.

The driver was the only person inside the car at the time.

It's unknown if alcohol or drugs were also factors in the crash.
