High-Speed Chase Involving Folsom Burglary Suspect Ends In Crash

FOLSOM (CBS13) - A Folsom intersection was closed Monday morning after a high-speed chase between police and a burglary suspect ended in a crash.

The suspect, who already had a warrant out for his arrest for burglary, allegedly just hit two more businesses at a strip mall in the 300 block of East Bidwell Street when police arrived, according to Sgt. Andrew Bates, a spokesperson for the Folsom Police Department.

An employee at Say Salon says the suspect broke into the salon then knocked a hole in the wall so he could get inside a neighboring skate shop. She ran to a nearby business and called 911, and when she returned to get his license plate number, she says he saw her and drove off.

Police spotted the sedan and chased the suspect through Folsom streets.

The suspect was headed westbound on Blue Ravine Road when he crashed into the side of a van carrying a mother and child as it was turning onto Blue Ravine Road from Big Valley Road. The woman suffered minor injuries related to the airbag going off and was taken to the hospital to be treated. The child was not injured.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The intersection was expected to reopen around 11 a.m.
