Couple Suspected Of Making Fake Credit Cards In Room At 5-Star Tahoe Hotel
TRUCKEE (CBS13) - Authorities say a couple allegedly tried to scam their way into a stay at a five-star hotel near Truckee.
The pair - 24-year-old Washington resident Jason Paul Bourquin and 26-year-old Alaska resident Natasha Newlun - checked in at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe last week, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office.
The hotel soon discovered that the credit card the pair allegedly used to check in was fraudulent, however,
In fact, authorities say the pair was making fake credit cards in their hotel room.
After this discovery, the pair's room was locked. Deputies were called as soon as the couple returned and found they couldn't open the door.
Deputies say Bourquin tried to run into the woods when they got to the scene, but he was eventually spotted and taken into custody along Highway 267.
Credit card making equipment, stolen credit cards, drugs, drug paraphernalia and evidence of identity theft was discovered after deputies searched the couple's room and car.
Both Bourquin and Newlun were booked at Placer County Jail. They are facing numerous charges.
