Council To Vote On Extending Downtown Sacramento Parking Meter Hours

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – It may soon cost more money to park in Downtown Sacramento at night.

On-street parking spaces are currently free after 6 p.m., but next week city leaders may change that.

Under the proposal, people would now have to pay parking meters until 10 p.m. in downtown and 8 p.m. in parts of midtown.

The city council will consider increasing the hours at next Tuesday's meeting, along with expanding the "tiered-rate" parking program that allows drivers to pay more to park longer.
