Corti Bros makes list of best tourism grocery stores

SACRAMENTO – A longtime East Sacramento business is getting some national recognition.

This week, USA Today named Corti Brothers market one of the 10 best for supermarkets for the budding "grocery store tourism" trend.

"We are really humbled," said Rick Mindermann, Corti Brothers' store director.

Seasoned travelers say checking out a city's unique grocery stores a perfect way to sample the local flavor of a community.

USA Today's list recognized Corti Brothers' impressive selection of goods along with its legendary sandwiches.

Alice Waters, founder of Berkeley's legendary Chez Panisse restaurant, is also among the famous foodies who have sung Corti Brothers' praises.

"It's what we've done our whole career," Mindermann said.

Frank and Gino Corti opened the grocery store at Folsom Boulevard and 59th Street in 1947.
