Corgi Owners Rejoice As Gov. Jerry Brown Adds Colusa Brown To His Family

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The First Dog of California is sharing the limelight and perhaps his food bowl as Gov. Jerry Brown introduces a new pup in his family.

Colusa "Lucy" Brown now joins big brother Sutter Brown. The two-month-old was introduced on Sutter's Twitter page.

Tim Matieson has been breeding the fox-like dogs for nearly 50 years and says the addition to the Brown family is a win for the breed and the state.

"Corgi's are like potato chips. You know, if you have one, you can't have just one corgi. You have to have two," he said.

According to longtime owners like Joan Gibson Reid, there may be one big reason leaders like the governor and Queen Elizabeth II keep calm and corgi on with these Olympic quality shedders.

"They usually agree with whatever you say and I think probably the Governor appreciates that," she said

Lucy's brother's Facebook page may offer a few hints of what's ahead for her—conservation efforts, committee meetings, and lobbying for a few belly rubs.
