Cook Accused Of Smuggling Drugs Into Yolo County Jail

WOODLAND (CBS13) – Authorities say a jail cook is under arrest on accusations he was smuggling in drugs.

The Yolo County Sheriff's Office says they got a tip that Ricardo Navarro, a cook at Yolo County Jail, was smuggling contraband into the detention facility.

Tuesday morning, Navarro was taken into custody at the jail. Deputies say they found meth and drug paraphernalia in his possession. A search warrant was also served at a home on the 100 block of Muir Street.

Navarro was booked at Yolo County Jail and is facing a charge of bringing a controlled substance into a jail.

The jail has put Navarro on administrative leave, pending the results of the investigation.
