In what could be a contender for most random and surprising story of the day, MMA fight Conor McGregor announces his retirement.

The notorious fighter went to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to announce his retirement from the sport.

The news is nothing short of surprising.

McGregor had recently came off a loss to Stockton's own Nate Diaz at UFC 196. A rematch between the Irishman and Diaz is scheduled for July 9 in Las Vegas at UFC 200.
