Computer Seized In Illegal Gambling Raid Will Help Tracy Children

TRACY (CBS13) — Computers confiscated from an illegal gambling operation are helping the Boys & Girls Club of Tracy.

Instead of being destroyed as evidence, police got a court order to donate computers that were confiscated from an Internet gambling cafe.

In all, 39 computers once used for gambling will soon be teaching tools for the club's six locations.

The need is clear as 80 percent of students who attend the after-school programs are from low-income families with little or no computer and Internet access at home.

The club is looking for computer savvy volunteers to help install programs for the children.
