Coast Guard: 15 Rescued Near Golden Gate Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The Coast Guard says crews rescued 15 people from a sinking boat near San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

The agency says it responded to a mayday call Thursday afternoon from a 50-foot sport fishing vessel that reported it was taking on water near Kirby Cove.

Crews from the Coast Guard and the Marin County Fire Department used their rescue boats to bring 13 passengers and two crew members to safety.

The only report of injury was a head laceration suffered by a passenger, who was treated by medics.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the emergency.

Salvage operations were being carried out and the agency says there were no reports of pollution from the vessel.
