Clown-Hunting Teen Throws Bottle At Car, Doesn't Realize He Hit Sheriff's Deputy

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) - A teen is under arrest after he allegedly threw a bottle at a passing car, not knowing he had hit a passing sheriff's deputy.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office says a group of teen boys from Citrus Heights were out hunting for clowns late Wednesday night along PFE Road in rural Roseville due to the recent frenzy over "creepy clowns."

With no clowns in sight, one of the boys threw a bottle a passing car, shattering the driver's side window.

What the boy didn't know is that the car he had just hit was that of a Placer County Sheriff's deputy.

The impact cut the deputy's face, but he was able to turn around and follow the boys' car. The boys were soon pulled over and a 17-year-old who allegedly threw the bottle was taken into custody.

The boy was booked at Placer County Juvenile Hall and is facing felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
