Close Call For Caltrans Employee Working On Trees

BRIDGEVILLE (CBS13) - It was a close call for a Caltrans crew member working to cut down some tree limbs in Humboldt County over the weekend.

Caltrans says a the worker from Bridgeville was called out to Route 36 near Carlotta Sunday evening to deal with some tree limbs dangling over the roadway. One car had already hit the dangerous tree limbs by the time crews got to the scene.

He got to work and started to cut the limbs when a concerning noise was heard.

Looking back, he saw that four trees had fallen - with two of the trees hitting the crew's truck.

As seen in pictures taken at the scene, the trees fell right on the truck's cabin. Lucky, no one was inside and no one was hurt in the incident.

Caltrans says motorists should always be alert and paying attention to the road due to such sudden hazards.
