City Of Anaheim Turns Off Water, Power To Illegal Pot Shops

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - The city of Anaheim is literally pulling the plug on pot shops.

The Orange County Register reported Tuesday that the city is cutting off water and power to illegal marijuana dispensaries.

Ruiz says the strategy is effective because Anaheim operates its own utilities.

The city banned the shops more than a year ago, but they keep opening up.

A city councilwoman applauds the move as a good first step, but wants the city attorney to penalize landlords who look the other way when renting property to pot shops.
