CHP Stops Suspected Street Race Near Elk Grove; Cars Impounded

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Authorities cited numerous people and impounded a handful of cars after a suspected street race near Elk Grove.

California Highway Patrol says someone tipped them off late Monday night about a suspected street race happening near Dillard Road, east of Highway 99. An air unit soon showed up and spotted two cars officers say just finished a race.

Two other cars were reportedly staging to race.

Officers swarmed the scene and found around a dozen people at the suspected race.

Numerous people were cited on suspicion of street racing and their cars were impounded. Spectators were also cited for aiding or abetting a street race, CHP says.

The cars impounded include a Honda S2000, a Nissan 350z, a Ford Mustang and a Chevy Corvette.
