CHP: Sacramento Man Totals Patrol Vehicle In Woodland Crash

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento man is facing reckless driving charges for crashing an SUV into a California Highway Patrol officer's car in Yolo County.

It happened on Old Driver Road near County Road 17 near Woodland. Investigators say Steven Smith-Nimmer, 25, was speeding and lost control of his vehicle. He struck a CHP car heading in the opposite direction and forced another car off the road.

Investigators say he was driving a marked Sierra Northern Railway vehicle.

The CHP vehicle was totaled.
