CHP Officer Talks Suicidal Woman Down From Bay Bridge Ledge

OAKLAND (CBS13) - Dramatic photos taken by California Highway Patrol shows how an officer was able to talk down a suicidal woman from the Bay Bridge.

The incident happened Tuesday evening. According to CHP, a possibly suicidal woman climbed over the railing on the eastern span of the bridge and was sitting on the ledge.

Two officers responded to the scene and tried to talk the woman down, but she only gave them limited responses. She was reportedly ready to jump.

Officer J. Maya, a Crisis Intervention Trained Officer, decided to tie a tow strap from a Caltrans truck to himself so he could safely climb over the railing. Then began to talk to the woman.
