CHP: High-Speed Crash In Carmichael Sends 3 To Hospital

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – Three people, including a 7-year-old girl, have been taken to the hospital following a high-speed crash in Carmichael Thursday morning, authorities say.

According to California Highway Patrol, a speeding car hit two power poles, a tree, a brick wall, then a house near El Camino Avenue and El Tonas Way. Three people were inside the car at the time of the crash.

Fire crews reportedly had to use to the Jaws of Life to get the passengers out of the car.

CHP says that the driver, a 21-year-old man, was weaving in and out of traffic right before the crash. He and the 7-year-old girl are suffering from major injuries.

El Camino Avenue between El Tonas Way and Fair Oaks Boulevard will be closed as SMUD crews work to replace the damaged power poles. No power outages have been reported at this time.

CHP says that drugs or alcohol do not look to be factors in the crash.
