CHP: Driver In Wrong-Way Crash On Highway 50 Was Under The Influence

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The woman who drove the wrong way on Highway 50 last month and collided head-on with another vehicle was driving drunk, says the CHP.

Nineteen-year-old Elizabet Torres-Zela had a blood alcohol of .20 on April 22 when she drove her Prius more than five miles eastbound on westbound Highway 50 and crashed head-on into a truck carrying three men and killed all of them, according to a Sacramento County Coroner's Office statement released Tuesday.

People who called 911 said Torres-Zela started on Harbor Boulevard in West Sacramento, driving several miles down the wrong way of a freeway.

The CHP is continuing its investigation into the collision.

Tina Licastro, the woman who manages the apartment where Torres-Zela lived, said Torres-Zela was a good tenant.

"A very pleasant young woman, quiet, never had any problems," she said.
