Boy, 5, Abducted In San Mateo Found In Sacramento Area

SAN MATEO (CBS13) – The child at the center of a short Amber Alert Wednesday morning was found safe in the Sacramento area, authorities say.

Jacob Steele, 5, was abducted from San Mateo just before 4:30 a.m. Authorities named 34-year-old Michael Steele as the suspected abductor. His relationship to the boy has not been disclosed.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, Michael apparently called 911 a little after 6:30 a.m. Deputies were soon at a parking lot near Old Placerville and Goethe Roads, off of Highway 50 and Bradshaw, and Michael was detained. Jacob was found safe.

Michael is being held in custody and will be taken back to San Mateo.

Jacob will first be taken to the hospital before he is reunited with his family.
