Hours-Long Overnight Standoff In Ceres Ends

CERES (CBS13) – An overnight standoff situation in Ceres lasted for hours before being resolved early Thursday morning.

It happened in the area of East Hatch Road and Richland Avenue.

The incident started around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday when Galt police officers tried to stop a car with a man and woman inside. The driver backed up and hit a police car, then took off.

Officers chased the suspect and the driver eventually stopped in Ceres near an am/pm.

Officers used pepper balls to try and get the suspect to surrender.

The man who was behind the wheel eventually surrendered peacefully just before 4:30 a.m. A female passenger is OK.
