Central Valley Storm Chasing

STOCKTON (CBS13) — From ominous skies in San Joaquin County, to heavy fog and rain in Calaveras County, drivers dealt with changing and challenging weather conditions throughout Sunday afternoon.

"I was just coming back from Stockton right now, there was no rain, and then suddenly there was a really hard downpour right across the hill. I heard there was a tornado warning too," said driver Talitha Tchong-Dixon, passing through Copperopolis.

Heavy downpours and high winds pushed through and several tornado warnings were issued throughout the area.

"Yeah, my phone was going off and this weird alarm and it said tornado warning," said Ty Woody, also in Copperopolis.

But despite instructions to take immediate shelter he couldn't resist keeping watch.

" I was just outside and sitting on my front porch and the rain just came in hard and fast and there was thunder and lightning and then it just stopped was kind of strange," Woody said.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or major damage.
