Central California Deputies Shoot, Kill Man Wanted In Double Murder

COALINGA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Central California say they shot and killed a man suspected in a double murder.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says deputies shot the 24-year-old coming from a house with a handgun when he opened fire on them. He died at the scene.

Sheriff's spokesman Tony Botti says his office and the U.S. Marshals Service learned that he was living at the home in Coalinga.

Officials say the man was suspected of killing two people in October 270 miles away in the Southern California city of Riverside.

Botti says SWAT officers surrounded the home and ordered everybody out.

That's when Botti says the armed man came out shooting.

Botti says two adults and two small children were also inside the home. Nobody else was hurt, and the investigation continues.
