CBS13 Report On East Area Rapist Generates A Slew Of New Tips On Crime

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — Sacramento County Sheriff's investigators say they are getting a slew of new tips about the East Area Rapist after a CBS13 special report.

From phone calls to emails, many claim to have information on the suspect whose crime spree started in Sacramento County back in 1976. He's suspected of sexually assaulting nearly 50 women and murdering 10 people in the ensuing decade.

Sgt. Paul Belli says any new leads help.

"Victims who are comfortable with contacting us, we would absolutely love to speak with them," he said. "And at that point if they're comfortable we'd love to have them come in and review their statement related to that particular case."
