Carmichael Man Matches 5 Of 6 Numbers In Powerball, Wins $638K

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) - A Sacramento-area man may have missed the Powerball jackpot by just one number, but he still emerged a winner.

The California Lottery says Albert Graham, a 79-year-old retiree from Carmichael, came forward Thursday to claim his prize from Wednesday's $1.6 billion drawing. The ticket he bought in Santa Cruz matched all but the Powerball number of 10.

"I was disappointed in missing only the Powerball number. But then my wife said 'How are you disappointed?,'" Graham told the lottery.

Despite missing the jackpot, Graham's $40 ticket still won him about $638,000.

A total of 12 tickets that matched all numbers but missed the Powerball number were sold in California. Only two people, Graham and a person in Paicoma, have come forward to claim their prize.
