Carmichael Couple Remembered After Sonoma County Plane Crash

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) — A Carmichael couple has been identified as the victims of a plane crash in Sonoma County.

Richard and Susan Bristow were in their small plane on Sunday afternoon when it went down about 1,000 yards from the Petaluma Municipal Airport.

Investigators say the couple were in their RV-6 when it lost power and crashed, leaving the single-engine kit plane in pieces on a roadway.

The couple has lived in Carmichael for more than two decades, where Richard worked as a real estate agent. Neighbors were in shock to find out about their death, remembering the couple as kind and gentle people.

The couple's son said his father was an excellent pilot and believes something mechanical went wrong with the plane.
