Carjacking Suspect Who Died During Natomas Standoff Identified

NATOMAS (CBS13) — A man who put a Natomas neighborhood on lockdown after a Rio Linda carjacking has been identified.

Sacramento Police say 22-year-old Roberto Leon died on Tuesday after officers surrounded a home he ran into after abandoning a stolen Ford Bronco.

The incident started as a traffic stop in Rio Linda, but instead of complying, Leon jumped off his motorcycle and carjacked the Bronco.

Police say shots were fired and Leon drove off.

Officers later found the stolen vehicle deserted in Natomas.

Investigators say Leon broke into a home hours before he was found dead inside.
