Car Theft Suspect Struck And Killed After Running Onto Freeway

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says a car-theft suspect was struck and killed by a vehicle when he ran onto a Los Angeles freeway during a chase.

CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos says the pursuit began around 3 a.m. Wednesday when officers tried to pull over a possibly stolen Toyota on northbound State Route 101.

The suspect sped off and a short time later crashed while exiting the freeway near Boyle Heights. Villalobos says the man ran into lanes and was struck and killed.

Nobody else was hurt. The suspect was described only as a man in his 20s.
