Car Slams Into Tree; Teen Driver Dead, 5 Others Hurt

STOCKTON (CBS13) – A teen is dead and five others were hurt after a car slammed into a tree in Stockton Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened a little before 8:30 a.m. near N. Wilson Way and E. Alpine Avenue. Six people were inside the car when, for some reason, the car went off the roadway and hit a tree.

CHP says that the 15-year-old driver was killed in the crash. The five other people, said to be four juveniles and a 19-year-old, inside were taken to the hospital suffering from moderate to major injuries.

It is unclear where the car was going.

Authorities cleared the scene and reopened the road a little after noon. What cause the crash is still being investigated.
