Car Catches Fire After 3-Vehicle Crash; 7 Sent To Hospital

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A car crash and fire choked traffic along westbound Interstate 80 near Reed Avenue Saturday morning.

Seven people were sent to the hospital due to the three-car crash, which happened around 9:30 a.m. However, no one was seriously injured or killed, firefighters tell CBS13.

A person was trapped for a time in the car that caught fire but was able to escape.

The crash scene forced California Highway Patrol to issue a Sig Alert for the freeway. The roadway was cleared by late Saturday morning.

Firefighters are looking into why the car caught fire.
