Call Kurtis: SiriusXM Charges Customer 50 Times The Agreed Upon Price

ELK GROVE (CBS13) — Daniella Ruffin says Sirius X-M Satellite radio left her with no money to feed her kids.

"It's so frustrating. It's to the point you are in tears," said Ruffin.

Ruffin got three free months of Sirius X-M Satellite radio after buying a new van. She said the company then offered five months for $25.

"I figured, hey we'll go for it and see how it works out," said Ruffin.

So why did SiriusXM pluck $417 out of her bank account leaving her with just $20?

Ruffin says the company admitted the mistake and the charge was reversed three days later.
But since then, she's been charged the $417 four more times, being credited back those charges three times meaning she's still owed the $417 she never should've been charged in the first place.

"I have to figure out how to survive until that money goes back into my account," said Ruffin.

"It's really difficult to get attention when a business has a lot of customer," said Gary Almond with the Better Business Bureau.

"You should first try to resolve a situation like this with the company. If that doesn't work, challenge the charge with your bank," said Almond.

We contacted Sirius X-M Satellite Radio at least ten times by email and phone and they never explained what went wrong.
Daniella got an email apology "for the ongoing and extremely difficult experience" and after we got involved the $417 was refunded.

Daniella says the company is giving her six months of free service but when the deal runs out, she's cancelling.

"I'm not willing to deal with this again," said Ruffin.

Ruffin's bank and Sirius X-M covered her overdraft fees and late charges.
