California Passes Powdered Alcohol Ban

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — California is the latest state to ban powdered alcohol after Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill into law on Wednesday.

Assembly Bill 1554 prohibits the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control from issuing licenses to manufacture, distribute or sell powdered alcohol.

Purchase, sale or possession of powdered alcohol is punishable by a $125 fine.

More than 30 states have similar bans.
