California Man Dies Saving Daughter From Electrified Pool

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a father died in California while trying to save his 9-year-old daughter from an electrified swimming pool.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that police say 43-year-old Jim Tramel of Burlingame noticed his daughter in distress from electric shock in the Palm Springs home pool on Sunday. He was electrocuted in an attempt to rescue her and had to be pulled from the pool.

The girl was in critical condition at Loma Linda University Medical Center on Tuesday.

Palm Springs Police say they believe the accident was caused by faulty wiring.

Tramel was pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was the vice president of sales at marketing technology company RevJet.

Police say five others were shocked. Four have been treated and released from the hospital and the fifth is in stable condition.
