California Lottery Results: Not That One, The One That Matters For The November Election
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A lottery that doesn't pay out millions of dollars, but has big ramifications on your November ballot was drawn on Thursday.
California Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced the results of a random draw that dictates who will appear on which ballot.
First, the order of the alphabet, which will make much less sense in a minute.

Tiebreakers for letters will go on to the next letter and follow the drawn order. For example:
Thomas would come before Tucker because the H in Thomas comes before the U in Tucker in the drawn order.
But wait, there's more.
Statewide offices, including the President and U.S. Senate, will be rotated in each Assembly district. That means Assembly District 1 will see the candidates in the drawn order, while Assembly District 2 will see the top candidate dropped to the bottom.
For Congressional offices, the order will be determined by the lowest numbered Assembly district first, then rotating with every subsequent Assembly district.
State legislature races offer what passes for an easy to figure out the order—it's just like the drawn order across the state. Except if the district crosses county lines, then the county elections officials in each county will have another random drawing to determine the order for their county.
