California Highway Patrol Officer Struck By Vehicle On Interstate 80 Near Donner Summit

DONNER SUMMIT (CBS13) — A California Highway Patrol officer was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 80 in snowy conditions on Saturday.

The officer was outside the patrol vehicle when he was hit by an SUV at the Castle Peak offramp on westbound Interstate 80 around 2 p.m.

His injuries are unknown.

Hazardous conditions in the area prevented the emergency crews from lifeflighting the officer. Instead, the officer was transported by ambulance to the nearest trauma center in the area.
