California Highway Patrol Car Hit With Bullet On Highway

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A California Highway Patrol car was hit with a bullet from a passing motorist while the officers were on an unrelated vehicle stop.

On Thursday night, two highway patrol officers in one patrol car had stopped a car for a traffic violation on north Highway 101 in San Jose when shots were fired in their direction.

The officers were not hit or injured.

San Jose police spokesman Officer Albert Morales says officers responded to the scene about 11:30 p.m. to assist the highway patrol with an investigation into the shooting.

The suspect or suspects remain at large. The freeway was shutdown briefly while officers conducted a follow-up investigation.
