California Delays Start Of Commercial Dungeness Crab Season Due To Toxin

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The start of the commercial dungeness crab season has been delayed because of a toxin found in the water.

Health officials say the toxin, likely brought on by warming ocean temperatures, has sickened or killed seabirds, seals and whales throughout the region.

The state delayed the recreational season earlier this week, but now the commercial season has been delayed.

The commercial season was slated to start on Nov. 15.
