Boy, 4, Hit And Killed By Gunfire While Playing In Front Yard

HIGHLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a 4-year-old boy playing with stuffed animals in his family's front yard was hit by gunfire and killed in San Bernardino County.

Sheriff's spokesman Adam Cervantes says deputies responding to reports of shots fired found the injured toddler Wednesday evening in Highland.

The child was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are searching for suspects and interviewing possible witnesses.

Cervantes says investigators are looking for a four-door 1990s model white Toyota Camry. They want to talk to the driver and a passenger in that car as persons of interest.

Authorities have not named a motive or said if they boy was targeted.
