Boy, 14, Leads Police On Chase In Pickup Truck

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles authorities say the driver of a pickup truck that crashed following a police pursuit was a 14-year-old boy.

Police Sgt. James Bender says the chase began around 8:30 p.m. Monday in the North Hills area.

The teen led officers through surface streets for about 20 minutes before he crashed the pickup into another vehicle in Sylmar.

Bender says the boy was briefly taken to a hospital and then released back into police custody. Officials didn't identify him or say what charges he might face.

City News Service reports no other injuries were reported.
