Boy, 13, Killed After Being Struck By Jet Ski On Central California Lake

WISHON, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a 13-year-old boy died and his 16-year-old aunt was injured after they were struck by a personal watercraft on a central California lake.

The Madera County Sheriff's office said the accident happened Saturday afternoon at the Miller's Landing Resort on Bass Lake.

Authorities said the youngers were inner-tubing when they fell off. A personal watercraft that was passing by hit them.

The boy died at the scene and the girl was airlifted to a hospital.

KFSN-TV reports she was listed in critical condition with a head injury.

Investigators said they do not believe the driver of the personal watercraft was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The lake is about 20 miles south of Yosemite National Park.
