Body Of Second Missing Canoer At Donner Lake Recovered

TRUCKEE (CBS13) - Authorities say both bodies of two missing canoers who capsized on Donner Lake have been recovered.

The body of 34-year-old Lucas Johnson was recovered by divers early Sunday afternoon, Truckee Police say. Saturday, search crews recovered the body of 33-year-old Joshua Patterson.

Both men had been missing since Friday afternoon when their canoe capsized. According to Truckee Police, both men were not wearing personal flotation devices at the time.

"We would like to remind everyone how important personal flotation devices are. These situations are always extremely tragic and we can only hope we can prevent similar incidents in the future," said Capt. Rob Leftwich with Truckee Police in a release.

The men are Auburn-area residents.
