Body Found In Lake Oroville May Be Missing Bay Area Hiker

OROVILLE (CBS13) — A body found in Lake Oroville may be a missing hiker from the Bay Area.

A fisherman found the body in the area of Red Tape Road on Lake Oroville on Friday morning. Sheriff's investigators found a man's body face-down on the shore.

Because of the condition of the body, investigators weren't able to make a positive identification.

However, they believe it may be Stephen Jones, a hiker who went missing in the area of Red Tape Road in February. Jones was visiting the area when he went for a hike on Feb. 5 with his dog while planning to hike to Lake Oroville. When his dog returned to the home without him, his friends became concerned. His body wasn't found during an ensuing search
